First Fridays Summer of Love

  • The Expo Art Center will be filled to the brim with activity.
    • In the north gallery, Toaster Music has curated an amazing night of art, music, and dance with featured artists Chalavie and Maha & Company!
    • In the south gallery, Connie Ericson has curated the work of Edward E. Solis.
    • The main room of Expo will feature works from over 20 artists from many the surrounding schools, colleges, and local artist collectives
    • The Back Room Theatre will feature the Never Speak poets with special guest Judah 1!
  • Unplugged in the Bus is on its 6th trip during this First Fridays! Enjoy poetry, music, and story telling on your way to the festivities from the Michelle Obama Library! Festivities starts at 5pm!
  • What better way to celebrate Summer than a block party, and a social good one at that! Share & Do Good Long Beach is starting the Summer of Love out right with Conscious Corner, a social good block party. They’ve gathered a group of amazing do good brands each making the world a better place through the work they’re doing around the world. To add to the excitement, Share and Do Good will be having special discount that night. Pick a paper popsicle and it will reveal a discount to the shop, up to 50% off your entire purchase!
  • We will be wishing Melinda McCoy’s a very happy 33 years in Bixby Knolls during First Fridays! Stop by for the party and enjoy musical guest Rock for Vets!
  • The Bixby Trading Post will host an amazing art exhibit featuring historical wedding photo presentation.
  • Get your cheese fix at Cheese Addiction! They’ll be tabling in front of their soon to be open shop at 4238 Atlantic Avenue!
  • Secrets Of The Island will be giving FREE 10 minute chair massages and Guamanian treats! And don’t forget to stop by to get a picture with Punchie the Pineapple!!
  • Stop by The Historical Society of Long Beach to see their newest exhibit during First Fridays honoring the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Using photos, newspapers, items from its collection and others collected from the community, it will commemorate this important anniversary of the event that torpedoed the United States into the Second World War. Music will be provided by Danielle Carter.
  • Kids, big and small, can get their faces painted at Boardwalk Properties!
  • Stop by Jammin’ Music for their monthly student showcase and jam session!nats work
  • The amazing TAEAO NA LUA POLYNESIAN DANCE GROUP will join us for First Fridays Summer of Love! Shuffle over to the former Tuttle Camera space to see all the action!
  • The Better Half Boutique will be celebrating the Summer of Love with an ice cream social! Pop by while supplies last!
  • Head over to Pixie Baby for First Books! Story time starts at 6pm!
  • Free Spirit Yoga will feature the photography of Henning Fisher and music by Karma Dog.
  • Drop into the Allery for our 9th art installation. This round’s featured artist is Nat Iosbaker. Also in the allery, DJ Bix will be spinning the hits!
  • TALB will host Long Beach Free Store, arts & crafts for kids, and free popcorn during First Fridays!
  • Mommy 4D will host a special Fathers Day arts and crafts table and photo booth during First Fridays!homeland
  • The Rivera Group will host a dance party and art show next to their shop with sound selection by Eusbeio Akasa!
  • Learn to dance with trained salsa dancers at Elise’s Tea Room for their monthly First Fridays dance party.
  • FREE parking at the Bixby Business Center on the corner of Atlantic and San Antonio.

  • The Homeland Cultural Center will be pop locking with the help of DJ Phil spinning all the best hip-hop and R&B and the First Fridays spray crew providing the art on 3939 North.

When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins. Weiland Brewery, Willmore, The 4262, Lola’s, Dutch’s Brew House and EJ Malloy’s go late into the night with food, drinks, and music. Why go home early? Stay out late and continue the energy Dine on Art-Lantic Avenue at one of our tasty restaurants then grab the trolley that will transport you venue to venue from designated stops at the participating businesses.
