First Fridays Day of the Dead

Join First Fridays for our annual Day of the Dead event as we celebrate with the living by honoring the dead! Enjoy amazing food, music, art, and fun activities for the kids!

  • The Expo Art Center will have plenty of arts and cultural experiences for everyone!Nov 2017
    • The main room will have over 30 different artists with various styles from fine art to photography to animation!
    • Toaster Music has curated two amazing shows in the north and south galleries. The north gallery will host Alex Diffin. The south gallery, curated by Connie Ericson, will have a group show with local artists Angelicque, Fur Fountains, Edrok One, and E. Trent Thompson.
    • The Back Room Theatre will host our spoken word all stars featuring poets Shyy but Fly, Jragonfly Jon, NERD and special featured poets. There is also an open mic portion so arrive early to sign up!
    • The north room will host a group art show from Hughes Middle School!
  • Stop by About U Boutique to receive a FREE goody bag if you are dressed up!
  • Salon Medusa will have an altar as well as FREE face painting!
  • Avery Boo Arts will have a special creative altar you won’t want to miss.
  • Pay respects at Lola’s Mexican Cuisine‘s altar and pop inside for their Day of the Dead dinner specials.
  • Share & Do Good will be back for the November First Fridays with all you need to start your Holiday shopping! Stop by for holiday gift ideas (& free gift wrapping!) AND a free gold foil tattoo bar!
  • Pop into The Better Half Boutique for a food demo, 15% off all Fall and Thanksgiving items, and FREE cookies!
  • Get your cheese fix at Cheese Addiction! They’ll be tabling in front of their soon to be open shop at 4238 Atlantic Avenue!
  • Kids, big and small, can get their faces painted at Boardwalk Properties and Twig & Willow.DDLM Altar
  • Stop by Jammin’ Music for their monthly student showcase and jam session!
  • Rick Wickeds will have an altar by Ali Juan Diaz and music by JusTodd!
  • Join The Rivera Group for a night of games, music, and dancing!
  • Twig & Willow will host Long Beach Creamery, Pie Bar, face painting, and live music by Alyssandra Nighswonger.
  • Pop by Secrets of the Islands for their First Fridays festivities!
  • Join The Bixby Trading Post for altars, food, and music by John Dean!
  • Head over to Pixie Baby for First Books! Story time starts at 6pm!
  • FREE parking at the Bixby Business Center on the corner of Atlantic and San Antonio.

When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins. Lola’s Mexican Restaurant, Art & Craft EateryRasselbock Kitchen + Bier Garten,  Weiland BreweryWillmore Wine Bar, and Dutch’s Brewhouse go late into the night with food, drinks, and music. Why go home early? Stay out late and continue the energy Dine on Art-Lantic Avenue at one of our tasty restaurants then grab the trolley that will transport you venue to venue from designated stops at the participating businesses
